SCHMIDT COMMUNITY FUND — 2023
Context: Schmidt Family of Companies founded the non profit organization, Schmidt Community Fund which is dedicated to the philosophy of investing in our youth, programs and initiatives in the community. For the past couple years, there has been a digital newsletter that goes out detailing what has been funded in the past month and is used to attract donations. However it wasn’t getting its full potential with a lackluster design that didn’t show who the Schmidt Community Fund was, and the manager requested I take over and redesign and revamp it.
Process: Realizing this would be the first thing people see in their emails every month and would invite in future investors I knew it needed to be redesigned to seem trustworthy and demonstrate the importance of community. Taking the same information used in the old newsletters, I created multiple concepts and layouts to see what would work best in displaying the great things the organization was doing while inviting readers to donate to their communities.
Solution: Using real imagery focused on people and community was an important step to making the newsletter the best it could be and attracting readers. To improve trust and clarity, I paired a professional serif with an easy-to-read sans serif. 12 months later, the newsletter on average has included more consistent open and click-through rates.
